Let me say, the mistake comes if all of the lottery numbers are picked using birthdays and such other personal date numbers.
Why?
There are a maximum of 31 days in a month, so if you use this technique to pick all your lottery numbers then, the highest number you would pick is 31 and the e.g. UK NATIONAL LOTTERY,
POLAND LOTTO or CANADA LOTTO 6/49 (and many other lotteries, as well) has a total of 49 numbers to choose from.
Please don’t forget about the other 18 numbers from the range of numbers, from 32 to 49.
You should also have in mind that, there are only 12 months in a year, this fact alone makes the chances of winning in the lottery much slimmer, if you use the whole birthday set of numbers.

The second commonly made mistake is picking a number series, or any ordered pattern.
Commonly used series like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or like 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, multiple of 5 series like 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, picking all even numbers like 2, 6, 10, 28, 36, 44 or all odd numbers 1, 7, 15, 23, 35, 41..... and so on....
