Loteria de Navidad Lottery Basics
The organisers of Loteria de Navidad prints 100,000 tickets, locally called billet-es that has five-digit codes ranging from 00000-99999. You should notice that each ticket is printed in 180 copies.
Then every full lottery ticket is divided into 10 smaller tickets (shares), called locally "décimos". On the right picture: decimo ticket issued in 2009. |
Every independent decimo lottery ticket could be purchased individually.
This year (for December 22nd, 2012 draw) there is a huge amount of decimal tickets (shares) for sale, due to high demand from players, from around the world.
So, we get 100,000 original tickets x 180 copies x 10 shares (decimals) = 180 million shares. That means 180 million players engaged in this lottery game if, we assume that one player going to buy one decimal ticket.

The draw takes place in a special atmosphere. We could enjoy Spanish students from the San Ildefonso School. They draw the results and sing them loudly to the public. Amazing!.
